Hello Friends,
I wanted to share an important pro-life update with you that is happening at the federal level.
This month, I joined national leaders and 34 Family Policy Council CEOs affiliated with Family Policy Alliance in signing a coalition letter sent to President Trump, Vice President Vance, Majority Leader Thune, and Speaker Johnson. Together, we spoke with one voice urging our national leaders to hold firm on Hyde protections—because Americans should never be forced to fund elective abortions with their tax dollars.
For more than 20 years, Florida Family Voice has served as Florida’s premier defender of life, marriage, family, and religious liberty. The large majority of our work and protection of a Biblical worldview occurs in Florida, but occasionally there are moments in time where we must bond together with other states to defend these four pillars.
Why this matters right now
The letter raises a serious concern that any “flexibility” in Hyde enforcement could result in relaxed verification and reduced oversight, increasing the risk of waste, fraud, and abuse within federal healthcare programs. Additionally, weakened enforcement blurs the moral line the Hyde Amendment was designed to draw—that abortion is not routine healthcare and is not something Americans should be compelled to subsidize through their tax dollars.
Why Florida Family Voice is involved
At Florida Family Voice, defending life is one of our Four Walls, grounded in the Biblical truth that every human being is created in the image of God.
In the book of Nehemiah, God’s people rebuilt what had been broken down, and they refused to stop until the wall was secure. “So we built the wall… for the people had a mind to work” (Nehemiah 4:6). That picture has always stuck with me: when a wall is under attack, you don’t ignore it—you strengthen it.
That’s how I see the pro-life fight right now. Hyde protections matter. They are part of the wall that protects the unborn, affirms the inherent moral reality about abortion, and helps keep our nation from drifting further into publicly funded abortion.
Standing strong for life (and for taxpayers)
Hyde protections have saved lives and, while they do not outlaw abortion, it rightly upholds a longstanding moral principle: taxpayer dollars should not be used to fund elective abortion. We’re committed to making sure these protections are not weakened behind closed doors or undermined through loopholes.
Thank you for standing with us for life. Every life is known by God, created on purpose, and worthy of protection.
