For more than 20 years, these have been the foundation stones of Florida Family Voice’s mission.
And for much of that time, Florida has led the nation in advancing policies that protect them. It has been an honor to stand on the frontlines of that effort alongside faithful leaders committed to rebuilding the walls of our state.
Like Nehemiah, we know that rebuilding never comes without resistance. The 2026 Legislative Session was one of the most challenging in recent memory. Deep disagreements between the Governor’s office, the Florida Senate, and the Florida House created significant gridlock, resulting in just over 160 of 1,926 filed bills reaching the Governor’s desk, the lowest total in decades. Special sessions are expected in the coming months to address congressional redistricting, property tax reform, and the state budget.
And yet, our team achieved meaningful, lasting wins. Beyond the legislation, this session was marked by the kind of relational investment that rarely makes headlines but shapes the long arc of public policy. Our team walked alongside lawmakers, offered guidance and research, and navigated difficult conversations with the Matthew 18 posture of addressing concerns directly and working toward solutions without unnecessary public conflict. That approach—firm on principle, relational in practice—continues to earn Florida Family Voice a trusted place at the table in Tallahassee.

One of the most encouraging developments of this session was the continued growth of FFV’s Church Ambassador Network.
Through six regional Capitol Connection trips, we hosted 125 church leaders in Tallahassee—pastors and ministry leaders who traveled more than 4,400 collective miles to meet directly with their legislators and with executive leaders including First Lady Casey DeSantis, Attorney General James Uthmeier, and CFO Blaise Ingoglia. These were not just photo opportunities. They were the kind of conversations that shape how legislators think when the hard votes come. Presence matters.
Our Legislative Affairs Director also engaged nearly 200 students and young leaders through groups including TeenPact, Turning Point USA, FPEA Homeschool Capitol Days, and FSU Students for Life—helping the next generation see first hand how civic engagement and a biblical worldview belong together.

While a number of additional priority bills ran out of time due to the legislative slowdown and opposition in the Senate, many remain top priorities for our team heading into the 2027 session.
Every session ends. But the mission does not.
Despite the challenges of this session, we leave grateful – for legislative wins that will protect Florida families for years to come, for pastors who made the trip to Tallahassee and reminded their legislators who they serve, and for young Floridians who are discovering that faith and public life are not meant to be separate.
