Dear Friend,
Twenty years ago, I had the privilege of being one of the founders of the Florida Family Policy Council (FFPC). In fact, I was the first Chairman of the Board of Directors. Not long after that, it became clear that God was calling me to lead the organization as its next President. This experience has been the privilege of a lifetime. We have done remarkable work alongside our state’s elected leaders to help make Florida a beacon of freedom and common sense for our country.
This year, I took an extended sabbatical in the second half of the year. It was a time to pray, seek God, and consider the future. At the end of this time, in consultation with our current board of directors, I have decided to retire from my role as President of FFPC effective January 1, 2024. I am not sure what the future holds, but it looks like I will continue to work either in the private practice of law, higher education, conservative policy advocacy, or in the pro-life movement. I feel like I still have a good 10-15 years to make a difference in the world!
Over the next six months, I will serve as a behind-the-scenes advisor to the board of directors to provide continuity with the transition and process of selecting a new President.
Please know the last 20 years have been the most fulfilling and exciting years of my life and career. It has been an extraordinary privilege serving in this leadership capacity. I am also grateful for the support and guidance of our board, who are a group of remarkably godly and wise men.
I leave the organization in the hands of a gifted and capable staff, in solid financial condition, and with a strong governing board. With your help, over the last few years, I have worked hard to make FFPC not just an organization but an institution to protect marriage, family, and life. I believe we have accomplished that mission.
This is a big step for me and my family. We are excited about the future, and we would greatly appreciate your prayers for what direction God has for us next.
