Health and Human Services Committee
Morris Hall (17 HOB), Tallahassee
Please join us and members of Florida’s pro-life coalition in Tallahassee this Tuesday afternoon (Oct 22) at 1:00 PM ET in Morris Hall (17 HOB) to testify in favor HB 265: Parental Consent Before Abortion. There are two hours allotted to this topic and we need you to come out and speak in favor (3 minutes per speaker) or sit in the audience and wear blue to show your support. This is the bill’s only stop in a House committee before going to the full House for a vote on the floor.
Unfortunately, I will not be available to attend this meeting today. However, I want to let you know I ABSOLUTELY support this bill. Parents DESERVE to enforce their God-given RIGHTS as parents of minor children and have a voice in the LIVES of their grandchildren. I pray for all of those who will be in attendance that the Lord will SPEAK THROUGH YOU with the Word HE has given.
For over a decade, parental consent for a minor girl to have an abortion has been an issue across our land from the rocky coast of Maine to Guam. Across our great land a minor girl needs parental consent to receive an aspirin or Tylenol at school, to get a physical examination, to play basketball, to get bronzed at a tanning salon, for plastic surgery, a dental extraction, a tattoo, to be a poll worker on election day or to get her ears pierced. When a minor girl finds herself pregnant it can be a time of great trauma and extreme anxiety in her young life. That is the time when parental involvement would be most needed for a decision more likely than not will stay with her for the rest of her life. For cases where parental involvement would do more harm than good the judicial waver seems to be the best remedy and it is part of this good bill. Please vote in favor.
Please do not let these young girls abort their children without consulting with their parents.
