In 2024, the future of life in Florida hung in the balance as Amendment 4 was placed on the ballot.
While many avoided the issue, deeming it too political or too risky, Pastor Joby Martin stepped into the fight with courage and unwavering leadership. Speaking to more than 30,000 people each week across Eleven22’s 17 campuses, and reaching over 100,000 more online, he boldly educated on the dangers of the amendment and mobilized one of Florida’s largest churches to act.
He made it clear: Life is a Biblical issue—and when politics becomes theological, the church must talk about it.
More than two centuries ago, William Wilberforce refused to check his faith at the door of Parliament. He said: “It is because of my faith that I believe every single person deserves freedom.” In 2024, Pastor Martin carried that same conviction into one of the most important fights Florida has ever seen.
Amendment 4 failed. And an estimated 40,000 lives per year are protected because of it.
But Pastor Martin did more than celebrate this life-saving victory. He took action, strengthening Eleven22’s foster care and adoption ministries in preparation for the lives saved.
For his courage in that fight and for a lifetime of steadfast, principled leadership, Florida Family Voice is honored to present Pastor Joby Martin of The Church of Eleven22 with the 2026 William Wilberforce Award at our 21st Annual Dinner Gala on Saturday, April 25, 2026.
The award is given in memory of one of the greatest leaders in the history of public service, a man who committed his life to the fight for righteousness and justice.
