For more than 20 years, Florida Family Voice has been Florida’s premier defender for life, marriage, family, and religious liberty.

Florida’s primary election is August 18, and our team has spent months researching candidates so that when you walk into the booth, you are holding a voter guide built on a biblical worldview, not a party label.

• We have sent non-partisan biblical worldview questionnaires to 189 U.S. House candidates and 290 state legislative candidates running for office and have already received a record number of responses.
• We are vetting 37 judicial races involving 96 candidates because the courts matter just as much as the legislature.
• We are conducting in-depth interviews in dozens of target races.

The most consequential contests on this year’s ballot — Governor, U.S. Senate, congressional seats, and state legislature — will be decided before November arrives. Low-turnout primaries are exactly where faithful Christian voices carry the most weight.

One thing worth noting before August 18: Florida is a closed primary state. Voters must be registered with a party to vote in that party’s primary, and party affiliation changes must also be made by July 20. If you or someone you know needs to update their registration, now is the time.

This fall we will also be releasing our General Election guides and mobilizing volunteers across all 67 counties to distribute physical copies to churches and organizations statewide. More on that soon.

As Scripture reminds us:

Miss America Revises Its Definition of “Female”

When Miss North Florida 2025, Kayleigh Bush, who attended our Annual Dinner Gala last year, was stripped of her title for refusing to sign a contract requiring her to compete against biological males, Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier took action. His letter to the Miss America Organization is linked HERE.

In response, Miss America revised its policy — updating its definition of “female” to reflect biological sex. Here’s what changed:

This is a meaningful win for women and girls — and a reminder that principled action produces results.

New Data Confirms What Many Families Already Feel

A newly released Family Structure Index from our sister policy council, the Center for Christian Virtue, led by Aaron Baer, reveals a sobering national trend. Fewer adults are getting married. Fewer children are growing up with both parents in the home. And increasingly, families are relocating to states where they believe their children have a better chance to thrive.

Florida’s Attorney General Launches Investigation into AI Risks to Children

Attorney General Uthmeier recently announced an investigation into artificial intelligence platforms, including ChatGPT, citing concerns about risks to children and public safety.

In his words: “AI should advance mankind, not destroy it. We’re demanding answers on OpenAI’s activities that have hurt kids, endangered Americans, and facilitated the recent FSU mass shooting.”

The investigation follows growing reports that AI tools may be exposing young people to harmful content and influencing dangerous behavior. Florida is once again leading where others have hesitated.

James Uthmeier doesn’t do things halfway.

At 37, he became one of the youngest state attorney generals in the country. Before that, he served as Chief of Staff to Governor DeSantis and was the key architect behind some of the most consequential policy victories Florida has seen in a generation.

He helped defeat Amendment 4, protecting an estimated 40,000 lives per year. He has fought to protect parental rights, defend the unborn, and uphold the rule of law at every turn. Governor DeSantis said it simply when appointing him: “I know he’s got the foundation. I know he’s got the proper worldview.” CFO Blaise Ingoglia put it another way: “A lot of the things we’ve been able to accomplish as a state are because of Ron DeSantis’ vision and James Uthmeier’s execution.”

And he is not slowing down.

Just this week, Attorney General Uthmeier announced an investigation into OpenAI and ChatGPT following evidence that the technology may have contributed to the deadly Florida State University shooting last year. He has already issued subpoenas to Roblox over the exploitation of children on its platform and is pushing the Florida Legislature to put real guardrails around artificial intelligence to protect families and children from an industry moving faster than the laws designed to govern it.

When children are in danger, James Uthmeier acts.

That is exactly the kind of leader this award was created to honor.

Charlie Kirk stood on our stage as keynote speaker at last year’s gala just four months before his assassination. This award was created in his memory.

Charlie spent his life believing that the next generation of courageous leaders was out there — young men and women who would step into the public square, take the heat, and refuse to back down. The Charlie Kirk Courageous Voice Award exists to honor leaders who carry that same conviction: speak truth publicly, stand firm under pressure, and trust that God’s purposes outlast any opposition. James Uthmeier is exactly that kind of leader.

Good Friday is a day that looked like defeat to many, but was only the beginning of the greatest love story ever told.

Jesus Christ, the perfect, unblemished Lamb, came to earth, lived without sin, and willingly carried the cross meant for us. He endured suffering, shame, and death because He loves us.

But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8

Good Friday is good — not because of anything we have done, but because of what was coming.

Three days later, everything changed.

The stone was rolled away.
The tomb was empty.
The living Son of God triumphed over death.

“In His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” 1 Peter 1:3

This is not just a story.
This is our hope. Resurrection.

Because of Jesus, we are redeemed, loved, and invited into new life.

As we remember the cross and celebrate the Resurrection this weekend, we pray that many who don’t yet know this life-changing truth will come to know the love of their Heavenly Father.

“He is not here; He has risen, just as He said.” Matthew 28:6

As the Church celebrates this truth, may we carry it into a world that desperately needs hope.

For more than 20 years, these have been the foundation stones of Florida Family Voice’s mission.

And for much of that time, Florida has led the nation in advancing policies that protect them. It has been an honor to stand on the frontlines of that effort alongside faithful leaders committed to rebuilding the walls of our state.

Like Nehemiah, we know that rebuilding never comes without resistance. The 2026 Legislative Session was one of the most challenging in recent memory. Deep disagreements between the Governor’s office, the Florida Senate, and the Florida House created significant gridlock, resulting in just over 160 of 1,926 filed bills reaching the Governor’s desk, the lowest total in decades. Special sessions are expected in the coming months to address congressional redistricting, property tax reform, and the state budget.

And yet, our team achieved meaningful, lasting wins. Beyond the legislation, this session was marked by the kind of relational investment that rarely makes headlines but shapes the long arc of public policy. Our team walked alongside lawmakers, offered guidance and research, and navigated difficult conversations with the Matthew 18 posture of addressing concerns directly and working toward solutions without unnecessary public conflict. That approach—firm on principle, relational in practice—continues to earn Florida Family Voice a trusted place at the table in Tallahassee.

One of the most encouraging developments of this session was the continued growth of FFV’s Church Ambassador Network.

Through six regional Capitol Connection trips, we hosted 125 church leaders in Tallahassee—pastors and ministry leaders who traveled more than 4,400 collective miles to meet directly with their legislators and with executive leaders including First Lady Casey DeSantis, Attorney General James Uthmeier, and CFO Blaise Ingoglia. These were not just photo opportunities. They were the kind of conversations that shape how legislators think when the hard votes come. Presence matters.

Our Legislative Affairs Director also engaged nearly 200 students and young leaders through groups including TeenPact, Turning Point USA, FPEA Homeschool Capitol Days, and FSU Students for Life—helping the next generation see first hand how civic engagement and a biblical worldview belong together.

While a number of additional priority bills ran out of time due to the legislative slowdown and opposition in the Senate, many remain top priorities for our team heading into the 2027 session.

Every session ends. But the mission does not.

Despite the challenges of this session, we leave grateful – for legislative wins that will protect Florida families for years to come, for pastors who made the trip to Tallahassee and reminded their legislators who they serve, and for young Floridians who are discovering that faith and public life are not meant to be separate.

I am especially grateful for our Tallahassee team, who showed up every single day to resource lawmakers, guide pastors, and invest in the next generation.

During their time in Tallahassee, they connected with elected legislators and members of the executive branch for prayer, partnership, and relationship-building.

Last May, Charlie Kirk stood on our stage and delivered a message full of faith, boldness, and conviction. Four months later, he was gone.

Those of us in the room that evening will never forget it. He was full of life, full of faith, and full of fire. He had no idea it would be one of his last public appearances. None of us did. This year, we have the profound privilege of welcoming a man who poured into Charlie’s life — his mentor, his friend, and a man whose courage shaped Charlie’s own.

Victor Marx will be the featured speaker at the 21st Annual Florida Family Voice Dinner Gala on April 25, 2026, at Rosen Shingle Creek in Orlando.

After Charlie’s passing, Victor shared advice he had given him during their years of friendship: “Do not ever make a decision based on fear. Charlie dealt with fear just like anyone else. But what he had was the antidote to fear, which is courage.”

These were not empty words. Victor had lived them long before he ever spoke them – courage forged in places most people never have to go.

This week offered a vivid reminder of why the Church’s presence in the public square matters. We had the privilege of welcoming pastors and faith leaders from Tampa and Southwest Florida to the Capitol, where they connected directly with their elected legislators and members of the executive branch. In collaboration with the Governor’s Faith and Community Initiative office, we were also able to bring this group to a private luncheon hosted by First Lady Casey DeSantis. This meaningful moment allowed members of the faith community to engage directly on the issues that matter most to the families they serve. These were not ceremonial visits. They were the kind of conversations that remind leaders what is actually at stake.

As we enter the final stretch, our team remains fully present in Tallahassee — advocating, encouraging, and continuing to serve as a consistent voice for Life, Marriage, Family, and Religious Liberty. Here’s where things stand as we head toward the finish line.

As Session enters its final days, the pace of legislative movement accelerates quickly. Bills that have advanced steadily through the process now depend on final negotiations, floor debate, and the relationships built over many months. Our team remains fully engaged, meeting with lawmakers, supporting policy champions, and continuing to serve as a faithful presence where decisions impacting Florida’s families are made.

The final weeks of Session have a way of clarifying what this work is really about. The votes matter, but so does the posture we bring to them. We are here to bear witness: to the dignity of human life, to the goodness of God’s design for the family, and to the truth that faithful presence over time is more powerful than any single legislative victory. None of that is possible without your partnership, your prayers, and your continued belief that the Church’s voice belongs in the public square.
