Florida Family Voice is proud to support Governor DeSantis’ bold reforms to strengthen the integrity of our state’s initiative petition process.

These reforms are crucial in curbing the influence of out-of-state special interests that manipulate our elections. As we saw last year with Amendments 3 and 4, wealthy groups from outside Florida have poured millions into Florida, circumnavigating the people’s elected representatives and running deceptive and misleading campaigns. Additionally, mounting evidence has been uncovered revealing significant fraud occurred in the petition collecting process, that we cannot allow to happen in the future.

The proposed reforms for the special session include:

· Require voters to send petition forms directly to Supervisors of Elections by mail or in person, with strict ID protections, and prohibit third-party collection of petitions.

· Require the Florida Supreme Court to determine if any given initiative violates any inalienable rights in Article I, section 2 of the Florida Constitution.

· Authorize the Secretary of State to decertify petitions lacking valid signatures or compliance with constitutional or statutory requirements.

· Introduce a private right for any citizen to challenge petition certification.

· Enhance ballot disclosures with fiscal impact statements, legal effects, and defined terms.

· Require fiscal impact statements to be prepared by a Governor-appointed panel and for the Attorney General to also provide a summary of the amendment to also go on the ballot.

Though we defeated it once, we must take action to ensure that dark-money, out-of-state leftist groups know that Florida’s Constitution is secure and not for sale.

Tomorrow is the day to show up and be heard. Early voter turnout has been record-setting. 

If you have not voted yet, tomorrow is the day to show that we can have both early voting records AND day of voting records!

If you do not know where your polling place is, contact the Supervisor of Elections. You can also find your precinct and polling place on your county Supervisor of Elections website. At the polls, you will be asked to provide a valid photo ID with a signature.

Florida Pastors are speaking out against the deceptive constitutional amendment initiative on the November ballot called Amendment 4.

This movement is pastor-initiated, pastor-inspired, and pastor-led.

It is literally a “spiritual” grassroots movement.

We are asking concerned pastors to consider reading and then signing the declaration for life, as well as soliciting the Church of Florida to let their local pastors know of this movement.

This declaration was a consensus document of a wide group of evangelical pastors upon which they could coalesce and stand together. Once a pastor affirms the declaration, it is the hope that they will pass it along to their colleagues in ministry.

Vote No on 4 Campaign Launches to Defeat The Deceptive and Extreme Amendment 4

Tallahassee, FL – Today, Vote No On 4 Florida formally launched its multilingual campaign to defeat Amendment 4 on the upcoming November ballot with the unveiling of new websites in both English and Spanish and the rollout of its first campaign video entitled “Not What it Seems” which exposes the deceptive nature and extreme ramifications of Amendment 4.  The 2-minute video reveals that while other amendments provide clear definitions, the 34-word Amendment 4 fails to define any of its terms, including crucial words like “viability,” “healthcare provider,” and “patient’s health,” leaving voters in the dark about its true impact.

“Amendment 4 was deceptively written to allow abortions throughout the entire pregnancy, even when the baby can feel the pain of the procedure, and to make abortion the only medical procedure that can be performed on a minor without a parent’s consent,” said Vote No On 4 Florida President Dr. Mary J. O’Sullivan, Professor Emeritus of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Miami Medical School.  “By allowing any so-called ‘healthcare provider’ – not just doctors – to determine fetal viability and approve late-term abortions, Amendment 4 essentially gives abortion clinics a rubber stamp to approve abortions in the third trimester, up to and including the last month of pregnancy.”

The Vote No On 4 Florida campaign is gaining momentum with strong grassroots support and is mobilizing thousands of Floridians across the state, with county organizers assembling a grassroots network throughout Florida that is currently capable of reaching nearly 80% of the Florida electorate. These volunteers will campaign throughout Florida to inform voters that Amendment 4 is “way too extreme, and not what it seems.”

In contrast, Amendment 4 is being heavily bankrolled by out-of-state special interest groups, including the abortion industry and George Soros’ Open Society Fund, which support abortion at any time during pregnancy. Outrageously, Amendment 4’s primary funding organization once lobbied against a bill to require emergency medical treatment for babies born alive during an abortion procedure. Thankfully, that bill passed the Florida legislature unanimously, despite the lobbying efforts of Amendment 4’s lead financial and political backer.

Please urge your family and friends to oppose this dangerous amendment.

Heavily funded, radical, pro-abortion groups have placed the misleading Amendment 4 on the ballot this November. The BALLOT SUMMARY of the amendment reads as follows:

“No law shall prohibit, penalize, delay, or restrict abortion before viability or when necessary to protect the patient’s health, as determined by the patient’s healthcare provider. This amendment does not change the Legislature’s constitutional authority to require notification to a parent or guardian before a minor has an abortion.”

AMENDMENT 4 IS DELIBERATELY DECEPTIVE!

It is not what it seems! It will enshrine abortion until birth as a fundamental right in Florida’s constitution for virtually any reason up to nine months of pregnancy – even when babies can feel pain – yet the misleading language hides this reality.

“No law shall prohibit, penalize, delay, or restrict abortion.”

This language would legally trump and invalidate commonsense laws in Florida regulating abortion, including clinic safety and cleanliness regulations, ultrasound requirements, informed consent, and the 24-hour waiting period. Abortion would become the only medical service completely exempt from any legal medical safety and health accountability requirements and protocols meant to protect women’s health and safety.

DELIBERATE CONFUSION
Key terms in the amendment such as viability, health, and healthcare provider are not defined at all anywhere in the amendment summary or text. This is unprecedented. Most ballot initiatives provide extensive definitions and guidelines in order to establish legal clarity. But the lack of definitions in Amendment 4 will inevitably create massive legal confusion and years of countless lawsuits while leaving the people’s elected representatives powerless to do anything. Amendment 4 allows for an abortion up until birth for any “health” reason at the absolute discretion of an undefined “healthcare provider.” Again, the word “health” is not defined, which would create a broad array of conditions that could be used to justify late-term abortions, including headaches, nausea, cramping, and discomfort, and could include emotional or psychological factors like stress or anxiety.

As well, the term “healthcare provider” is also undefined in the amendment. Under Florida law, the term “healthcare practitioner” includes a host of non-medical doctors, such as acupuncturists, nurses, pharmacists, and physical therapists. This means even non medical doctor employees of abortion clinics could be allowed to prescribe and perform late-term abortions putting women’s lives at risk!

Finally, while it claims to provide for “parental notification,” the amendment it fails to mention that parental consent laws would be gutted, allowing minor girls to obtain even late-term abortions, without their parents’ consent!
