 | | | Breaking News: Gay Activists to Protest Gov. Crist Wedding | | December 1, 2008 | | | FFPC | | Gay Activists to Protest Gov. Crist's Wedding Dec 12 Under the category of lower than low, hundreds of gay activists are again protesting the passage of Amendment 2, (the Florida Marriage Protection Amendment) this time by "crashing" the wedding of Florida's Governor Charlie Crist and demonstrating in "pink shirts" on Saturday, December 12, at the First Methodist Church of St. Petersburg. The gay activist group heading up the protest is Impact Florida whose slogan is "ACT damn it!" (sic). The group has promised to be on their "best behavior". In addition to protesting the passing of Amendment 2, they are also protesting Gov. Crist's support for Amendment 2. Irrespective of your views, on whether the Governor supported Amendment 2 strong enough or not, the Florida Family Policy Council encourages all Florida citizens to take time to celebrate the joyous occasion of Governor's marriage to Carole Rome by sending the couple a wedding card and earnestly praying for them as they become husband and wife. Send cards to Mr. and Mrs. Charlie and Carole Crist, at The Capitol, Appalachee Parkway, Tallahassee, FL.
Jeb Bush to GOP: Do Not Become "Democrat Lite" Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush gave an extensive interview to the web site, NewsMax in which he offers his ideas for re-shaping the Republican Party. He urged Republicans to form a "shadow government" to challenge the ideas emerging from the Obama administration. “We can’t be Democrat-lite. We can’t just ‘get along. We have to actually be proposing solutions to what appear to be intractable problems as it relates to education, health care, infrastructure. Across the board there are ways that we can show that we are truly on the side of the people that are concerned about the future of the country, without abandoning our principles.” Full story here:
McCollum Calls for Halt to Vegas-Style Gambling
"Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum renewed his call...for federal regulators to stop the Seminole Tribe from offering slot machines and blackjack at its Florida casinos. He cited a Florida Supreme Court decision that a deal signed by the tribe and Gov. Charlie Crist to allow the games is invalid. McCollum cited the tribe's decision to begin blackjack, baccarat and other card games played against the house at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Tampa on Nov. 14. "I am deeply concerned that the Tribe continues to defiantly ignore the decision of the Florida Supreme Court," he wrote in a letter to Philip Hogen, chairman of the National Indian Gaming Commission." Japanese Man Wants to Marry Cartoon Character A Japanese man has enlisted hundreds of people in a campaign to allow marriages between humans and cartoon characters, saying he feels more at ease in the "two-dimensional world." Comics books are hugely popular in Japan. Marriage is meanwhile on the decline as many younger people find it difficult to find partners.
Taichi Takashita launched an online petition aiming for one million signatures to present to the government to establish a law on marriages with cartoon characters. "I am no longer interested in three dimensions. I would even like to become a resident of the two-dimensional world," explained Taichi Takashita. "Therefore, at the very least, would it be possible to legally authorize marriage with a two-dimensional character?" (from Belfast Telegraph, November 6, 2008.)
